Alluvial Tin Ore (Cassiterite) Wash Plant Solutions

Alluvial tin ore (placer cassiterite) is one of the most profitable tin resources available because it offers incredibly low mining costs and requires zero expensive rock crushing or grinding. Based on decades of metallurgical accumulation, GravityMineral provides complete, turnkey Alluvial Tin Ore Beneficiation Solutions built entirely around high-efficiency gravity separation.

Our Tin Sand Wash Plants realize the efficient recovery of cassiterite through strict screening, intensive clay washing, and multi-stage gravity sorting. This chemical-free flowsheet has significant advantages: low initial investment, rapid deployment, zero environmental pollution, and an exceptionally fast return on investment. It is the perfect solution for developing both onshore river deposits and seashore tin sand mines.

The 4-Stage Placer Tin Gravity Separation Flowsheet

Our engineers design the circuit to first break apart clay bonds, discard barren gravel, and then systematically extract the heavy cassiterite based on particle size.

Stage 1: Screening & Intensive Washing

Raw ore is first classified and cleaned to remove sticky clay and oversized impurities, creating perfect conditions for gravity sorting.

  • Ordinary Sandy Materials: Fed directly into a Trommel Screen to sift out barren gravel and roots.
  • Highly Sticky Clay Materials: Fed into a Rotary Scrubber for deep, violent washing to dissolve the clay balls that would otherwise trap and steal the tin particles.

Stage 2: Roughing & Enrichment (The Core)

A graded gravity separation strategy is adopted. We route the washed sand to the specific equipment best suited for its particle size:

  • Coarse Particle Level (+0.5mm): Sent to Mineral Jiggers. Jigs offer massive processing capacities and highly efficient recovery of coarse cassiterite.
  • Fine Particle Level (-0.5mm): Sent to an array of Spiral Chutes. Spirals act as high-volume roughers, providing a remarkable recovery effect for fine tin sand.

Stage 3: Selection & Purification

The mixed, rough concentrates obtained from the Jigs and Spirals are pumped to 6-S Shaking Tables. The shaking table performs multi-stage selection (roughing, cleaning, sweeping) utilizing its precise visual sorting effect. By configuring multiple tables in series or parallel, we ensure a highly pure, commercial-grade tin concentrate.

Stage 4: Tailings & Water Treatment

Tailings (barren sand) are transported centrally by belt conveyors for backfilling. The muddy tailings water is pumped into a Thickener and Filter Press to separate the mud from the water. This realizes the dry-stacking of tailings and allows the clean water to be recycled back to the wash plant, heavily reducing environmental impact.

Core Equipment Configuration

Process Link Recommended Equipment Main Characteristics
Screening & Decontamination Tumbler (Trommel) Screen Simple structure, massive capacity, highly wear-resistant.
Sticky Clay Washing Rotary Scrubber Deep washing effect to dissolve clay balls and free the tin.
Coarse Grain Roughing Mineral Jig Large processing capacity, high recovery rate, stable operation.
Fine Grain Roughing Spiral Chute Zero power required, incredibly simple operation, low investment.
Selection & Purification 6-S Shaking Table Provides the ultimate sorting precision for a massive enrichment ratio.
Tailings Treatment Thickener & Filter Press Excellent dewatering effect to realize dry-discharge of mud.

Technical Advantages & Adaptability

  • Remarkable Economic Benefits: Equipment investment is reduced by over 40% (no crushing/grinding needed). Energy consumption is reduced by 60%, with a typical payback period of less than 12 months.
  • Environmentally Friendly: Full physical beneficiation with zero chemical pollution. Tailings dry stacking technology reduces environmental risks, and water is continuously recycled.
  • Strong Adaptability: Wide processing size range (0.02-5mm). Modular designs can be configured as fixed or mobile wash plants depending on site requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About Placer Tin Processing

Q1: How do I choose between a Trommel Screen and a Rotary Scrubber?

A: It depends entirely on your soil matrix. If your tin is mixed in loose river sand and gravel, a standard Trommel Screen is sufficient to wash the rocks and sift the sand. However, if your deposit contains thick, sticky laterite clay, you must use a Rotary Scrubber. A scrubber uses internal lifter bars to violently tumble the rocks, acting like an industrial washing machine to break the clay balls apart. If you don't dissolve the clay, it will carry your tin right into the tailing pond.

Q2: Why use Jigs and Spirals together?

A: Placer deposits contain tin particles of varying sizes. Jigs are excellent at catching coarse, heavy tin (+0.5mm), but fine tin sand (-0.5mm) will get washed out of a jig. Conversely, Spirals are amazing at catching fine heavy sand, but coarse chunks can disrupt the flow. By splitting the feed and sending coarse sand to the Jigs and fine sand to the Spirals, we guarantee maximum recovery across all particle sizes.

Full-Cycle Turnkey EPC Services
